ISKENDER


The most famous food from Bursa, Iskender Kebap, since the 1860's.  This dish consists of lamb, thinly sliced from a "doner" or rotating cooker, lying on top fresh, chopped pide bread, topped with a fresh tomato sauce, and browned butter.  Served with a healthy serving of yogurt, sliced tomatoes, roasted demre pepper and occasionally roasted eggplant.


Their own special "grape drink" that tastes somewhat like raisins.

We pretty much had the place to ourselves, weekday, and early.
